People in Power: Alex Cuscovitch
A proverb dating back to 1300s notes that “many hands make light work.”
The idiom rings true today at Aegis Energy Services, Inc., especially if a pair of those hands belong to Alex Cuscovitch.
As an Aegis Project Manager, Cuscovitch has his hands in a lot of different disciplines.
“I have always worked with my hands,” he says.
“Prior to working here I was doing construction work, such as carpentry, plumbing and masonry work.”
That experience, along with an Environmental Science degree from the University of Massachusetts, make Cuscovitch’s hands a vital tool in the design, installation, and maintenance of Aegis Energy Services, Inc.’s Combined Heat and Power systems.
Currently, Cuscovitch is responsible for overseeing projects at nearly a dozen sites.
“At all of these sites I handle project management, communications, and start-up and turning over of all the cogen systems,” he said. “I will also do some design work on certain sites.”
While part of Cuscovitch’s daily routine is in the field offering hands-on expertise with cogen systems, there is a considerable amount of time doing walk-throughs, working on communications issues, and the hiring and managing of contractors.
In fact, Cuscovitch may be communicating with over a dozen contractors at any given time. This is where his work in the construction field pays dividends for Aegis and its clients.
“That experience has helped me with my communications with outside contractors and site contacts to push them to get tasks done,” he said. “I need to ensure that all jobs are getting done in a timely manner. Also, working in the field has provided me with a good work ethic. It has really helped me learn our whole system quickly.”
That system requires effective communication and teamwork, many hands pitching in to make light work of large projects.
Cuscovitch views that teamwork, from installing to monitoring and maintaining their systems as a competitive advantage for Aegis.
“It puts us a step ahead of our competitors,” he said. “It allows us to be more efficient.”
Aegis Energy Services is the leader in modular CHP systems, having installed nearly 500 systems in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states.
