Aegis Energy Services, Inc. to present at NYC leadership conference
Holyoke-based Combined Heat and Power company to participate in energy efficiency seminar
Aegis Energy Services, Inc. has been tabbed to present the features and benefits of
CHP at the Nov. 22 “Change Leadership” conference in New York City. The focus of the event is “Accelerating Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment.”
The conference will address New York City’s Greener Greater Buildings Plan (GGBP) and its efforts to proactively address energy waste in existing buildings. Aegis Energy Services, Inc., Sales and Marketing Director Dale Desmarais will make the presentation.
The Greener, Greater Buildings Plan aims to accelerate energy efficiency improvement in the largest buildings in New York City. The suite of local laws that were enacted with the plan requires the owners of large buildings to undertake annual benchmarking of energy and water consumption, apply the NYC Energy Conservation Code when upgrading buildings, conduct energy audits and retro-commissioning, and implement lighting upgrades and install tenant sub-meters.
Annual benchmarking commenced in 2011 and the first energy audit and retro-commissioning reports are to be submitted before the end of 2013.
As a pre-qualified New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) vendor and participant in the CHP Partnership program, Aegis Energy Services, Inc., has successfully developed, installed, and maintained over 500 energy-efficient CHP systems in New York City and throughout the Northeast.
Founded in 1985, Aegis Energy Services, Inc. is a full service Combined Heat and Power developer that utilizes modular systems to reduce both energy costs and emissions for a variety of facilities, from healthcare and assisted living facilities, to recreational and multi-residential complexes, and hotels. There are also institutional, educational, and industrial facility applications. Combined Heat and Power (CHP), also known as cogeneration, is an efficient, clean, and reliable technology, which simultaneously generates electricity and thermal energy from a single fuel source.
The “Change Leadership” conference is presented by the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute at Baruch College, CUNY and will be held from 8 a.m. until noon at the William and Anita Newman Conference Center at 1511 East 25th Street in New York City.
The conference will discuss how “change leadership”, specifically the creation of a vision and strategy, can help participants identify ways to solidify energy efficiency improvements in structures of all types.
